Menstrual Hygiene Awareness – Gosa Community (2021)

📅 6 June 2021 📍 Gosa Community, Abuja

On 6th June 2021, the Kuro-Wari Global Foundation carried out a menstrual hygiene awareness outreach in Gosa Community, Abuja, mentoring teenage girls on proper hygiene practices during their menstrual cycle. The girls were educated on the safe and effective use of sanitary pads and provided with both disposable and reusable options, including reusable pads that can serve a girl for up to a year.

This outreach was inspired by real-life experiences highlighting the challenges many young girls face — from lack of access to sanitary products to stigma and embarrassment — which can affect a girl's confidence, dignity and education. We are grateful to mentors including Mummy Ibiene Nyanabo, Stella Aghamba, Ritabella Onyemenam, Amara Charles, Maryanne Dieke, Barr. Miebaka Nyanabo, Ayiko, Nurse Ngozi, Kate Moore, Barr. Vivian Akagha, Jennifer and Barr. Ese Omotayo.
