Finding Purpose After Pain – Widows Empowerment Program
On 1st April 2024, the Kuro-Wari Global Foundation hosted its first major project of the year, "Finding Purpose After Pain," an empowerment program designed specifically for widows of deceased veterans. The event was created to understand the unique challenges faced by these women, provide practical solutions, and guide them on a journey of healing while restoring hope.
Executed in collaboration with The Green Heroes Foundation, whose founder (a veteran) played a significant role in supporting and connecting with the widows, the day featured entrepreneurship and financial literacy sessions facilitated by Maryanne Dieke, skill acquisition training in soap making, health and wellness discussions led by Mrs Nyanabo, and counselling and encouragement sessions to support emotional healing. Participants also received raw food packages and a well-prepared meal.
Our profound gratitude goes to the dedicated KWGF team, including Miebaka Nyanabo (Team Lead), Eno Bassey, Kenny Raymond, Mr Nduka, Ms Tianah, Barr. Somto Onyemenam, and the photography team, as well as Air Commodore Balogun, a military veteran and founder of Green Heroes Foundation, who partnered with us on this event. This initiative reflects our belief that even after loss, purpose can be rediscovered, rebuilt and lived fully.
