A Smile for Ungwan Bawa – COVID-19 Sensitization & Welfare Outreach
On 14th May 2020, the Kuro-Wari Global Foundation, in collaboration with the Dagomo Foundation, carried out a COVID-19 sensitization and welfare outreach in Ungwan Bawa, a remote settlement about 45 minutes from Aco Estate, Airport Road, Abuja. Reaching the community required the team to navigate a river and winding earth pathways, as the village lacks electricity, tarred roads, clean water supply and stable mobile network.
One of the Foundation's medical professionals sensitized the community on COVID-19, focusing on prevention, hygiene and safety practices. Relief materials, including food items, clothing and educational materials, were presented to the community Chief, who coordinated further distribution through five mini village heads to reach households across the settlement.
